These swift and burly locomotives were mainly used for high speed freight hauling service between Detroit and Chicago. Preserving the memory of these massive machines is the Pere Marquette 2-8-4 Berkshire Steam Locomotive and Tender. Its solid die-cast metal body and powerful AC Pullmor motor make this a perfect representative of the brawny beasts of the early Pere Marquette Railroad
